Since October of 2010, AMRCON has been working closely with SCS Commodities to help the company prepare for its big move to a new location. SCS Commodities, the largest independent trading floor and OTC energy broker on the NY Mercantile Exchange, hired AMRCON to manage the build-out process of its IT infrastructure and data center solutions for its new office.
“So far, despite the complexities of moving and upgrading the data processes for such a large operation, things have been moving along very smoothly,” said Dee Rudko, CEO of AMRCON. Over the winter all the electrical, teledata and office structures like walls and floors were completed for the entire 19,000 square foot space. “And then we began installation,” Dee explained.
“We finished the installation for the data center, including the cooling lines for the air conditioning units, the subfloor electrical for electrical feeds, the data center racks, batteries, and all the control systems,” Dee added. “At that point, it was basically a data center shell ready for services to be installed
And that’s where Taras Rudko, Chief Information Officer at AMRCON, and his team, stepped in. “All the trading stations have been configured and wired and are set up and ready to go,” said Taras. The team has run all the fiber and Ethernet lines for the Intermediate Distribution Frame Center, which contains all the networking equipment that delivers connectivity throughout the building
“We have coordinated with all the vendors, secured equipment, run the cabling, and worked closely with everyone to ensure the process has gone smoothly.” The location is not yet entirely operational, as certain equipment is still being used at the SCS current location. “Once the move date is set, we’ll need to move all the equipment from the old location to the new,” Taras explained. Finally, internet activity is also up and running
When the move takes place, AMRCON will put all the final elements of the operation into place. That includes moving the servers from the old location to the new, as well as configuring and installing all the routers and printers and additional equipment.
We are looking forward to the final phase of this project, the move from the old location to the new and improved location for SCS,” said Rudko. “And we expect the move to be as seamless and smooth as the process has been all along.”
